Sewing and Quilting Patterns by Cottage by the Pond

Applique Acorn Pillow Sewing/Quilting ePattern (PDF)
My raw edge appliqued acorn pillow pattern with oak leaves is simple enough for beginners and for advanced stitchers as well. Feel free to add your own embellishments, such as buttons or lace, etc., to make it "your own." A great way to bring autumn into your home!

All of the fabrics I chose, except the background, are from the "Cinnamon Spice" collection I designed for Clothworks Textiles.

I like to encourage stitchers to choose their favorite colors and patterns, brights, neutrals, primitives, fancies... whatever YOU like! Don't be afraid to experiment! Note that I cut the acorn hat on the "diagonal" design to make it appear more realistic to the pattern on a real acorn. You may wish to choose a diagonal patterned fabric for the "hat" as well. The acorn is machine appliqued with a "fly" stitch to catch both edges of all pattern pieces, but a zigzag stitch is fine if that's all your machine offers. I suggest using a walking foot for the applique and for joining the front to the back.

Your finished acorn pillow will be approximately 17” high x 14” wide.
